A selection of wedding photos at Hotel Irvine to celebrate the Indian-Persian wedding of Sugandha and Farzan, with everything happening in the one location. After documenting the couple getting ready in separate suites at Hotel Irvine, we captured their romantic garden first look and multi-cultural wedding ceremony before a glamorous ballroom reception to finish the day.

Wedding photos at Hotel Irvine:
Sugandha and Farzan first contacted me just over a year ago about photographing their e-session in Laguna Beach. They both live out in Arizona but were planning a wedding in Southern California, although at that time they still hadn’t made any final decisions about a photographer. So I was really honored that following the e-session they decided to book me to capture this multicultural wedding at Hotel Irvine.
Sugandha is of Indian ancestry and Farzan is Persian, so they were planning on incorporating a few elements of each into what would be a predominantly Persian/western celebration. Everything was going to be happening in the one place at Hotel Irvine, which meant there was a really nice flow to the day and we didn’t have to spend time driving from one location to the next.
Getting ready photos at Hotel Irvine:
We kicked things off around noon, with my second photographer capturing Farzan and the boys as they made their final preparations while I was with Sugandha and her bridesmaids. I captured a silhouette shot as the bride had the final touches done to her makeup and admired her gorgeous gown in the suite window, as well as some candid photos as she shared in this special moment with her bridesmaids, mom and sister.
I photographed as the girls helped the bride into her dress and a black and white as her sister and mom secured her jewelry, then captured a few shots as she read a note card from her groom-to-be. It was then time for the first look with her dad, who was undeniably proud at seeing his daughter looking so radiant. I grabbed some candids as Sugandha’s mom and sister watched on, then a family portrait of them all together during this special moment.
Pre-ceremony portraits at Hotel Irvine:
With a little bit of time before her first look with Farzan, I grabbed some portraits of Sugandha in the beautifully-lit suite window in her stunning dress. Then we headed downstairs to a quiet area at the back of Hotel Irvine where she was going to see her groom.
I photographed Sugandha walking towards Farzan, then the reactions of both of them as they turned to see one another. We used the time available for some couple portraits in front of the green hedge, as well as across the street at a modern architectural building. I grabbed shots of them embracing on a tree-lined walkway and Farzan kissing his bride’s hand affectionately, as well as a few portraits of Sugandha with her bridesmaids in their bright pink and purple dresses.
Ceremony photos at Hotel Irvine:
It was then time for the wedding ceremony at Hotel Irvine to take place, which was being held in the courtyard garden. The late-afternoon light was absolutely perfect as Farzan was escorted down the aisle by his parents, then watched as his bride walked towards him.
I captured the reactions of both sets of parents during this special occasion, as well as those of the bridal party as they supported Sugandha and Farzan. The couple had decided to incorporate a few Persian elements into the wedding ceremony, with a lavishly adorned Sofreh table in front of them. I captured candid shots as the officiant sprinkled rice on them and they offered one another drinks, as well as the moment they signed the official marriage license with their parents.
Post-ceremony portraits at Hotel Irvine:
After making their joyous recessional walk down the aisle as “husband and wife”, I grabbed the newly weds for a few portraits behind their Sofreh table. We also snuck into the glamorous ballroom where their reception was to take place for some romantic portraits on the beautifully-lit dance floor.
Reception photos at Hotel Irvine:
As the cocktail hour came to an end, it was time for the party to get started, with Sugandha and Farzan performing a choreographed first dance with lifts and dips to kick things off. I grabbed some candid shots of both sets of parents as they watched on proudly, then everyone hit the dance floor to celebrate.
I tried to capture all the energy and festivities from multiple angles, with both young and old letting loose to mark this memorable occasion. There was a pause for speeches from the best man and maid-of-honor, then a “thank you” toast from the couple to their wedding guests. After the cake cutting ceremony, I managed to get everyone onto the dance floor for a group shot before the music ignited the ballroom once again.
The night concluded with Sugandha and Farzan being showered with petals in a traditional Persian flower dance, ending what had been an incredible day.
Wedding photos at Hotel Irvine:
I want to thank Sugandha and Farzan for selecting me to capture their incredible wedding at Hotel Irvine, which was infused with so much emotion and excitement. I wish them all the best as they embark on this new chapter together and in their professional lives in Arizona.
