Wedding photos at Hotel Seven4One as Vivian and Andy celebrated their special day in Laguna Beach, with everything happening in the one location. After documenting their getting ready moments, I captured a romantic first look on the Pacific Coastal Highway and grabbed some portraits on the beach. Vivian and Andy then walked down the aisle for an intimate courtyard wedding ceremony before partying with their family and friends during a lively reception that featured its very own ice sculpture.
VIVIAN & ANDY
Getting ready location: Hotel Seven4One in Laguna Beach, CA (bride and groom)
Vivian and Andy were just a joy to be around and you could feel that vibe amongst their family and friends throughout this intimate wedding at Hotel Seven4One. I first heard from them just over a year ago when Vivian was based in New York State and Andy was in South Carolina.
They became engaged in Toronto last May and have since moved to Washington D.C. where she works as a lawyer and he as a dentist. However, both of their families are in Southern California, so it made sense to celebrate their wedding at this intimate Laguna Beach venue.
Getting ready photos at Hotel Seven4One:
My second shooter and I drove down to Laguna Beach on what was a beautiful Saturday, arriving at Hotel Seven4One in time to capture all the getting ready action. While my second shooter was with Andy and his groomsmen in one suite, I was with Vivian, her bridesmaids and mom as they made their final preparations.
I captured some playful shots as Vivian and her bridesmaids blew kisses towards the camera, as well as a candid as the bride had the finishing touches done to her makeup and a reflective, black and white shot in a handheld mirror. I then photographed Vivian’s sister and mom helping to secure her dress and earrings, before all her bridesmaids clustered around as she stepped into her shoes.
With Vivian looking absolutely radiant, I grabbed some portraits with her flowing train and beautiful bouquet, as well as a fun shot of all the bridesmaids trying to grab a photo on their cell phones. It was then time for the father-daughter first look, with Vivian’s dad undeniably proud as he embraced the gorgeous bride and shared in this moment with the rest of the family.
Pre-ceremony portraits at Hotel Seven4One:
We then headed out onto the Pacific Coastal Highway where the couple had their first look, with Vivian walking towards her groom. I photographed the reactions as they captured their first glimpse of one another, then took advantage of this loved-up moment for some portraits around the rustic exterior of Hotel Seven4One.
I photographed Vivian leading Andy along the sidewalk and embracing outside the entrance to Hotel Seven4One, as well as capturing some portraits within the gorgeous ceremony courtyard of the venue. With the winter light now fading fast, we headed down onto the sands of Laguna Beach for some portraits, knowing that it was going to be dark by the time the wedding ceremony was over. I grabbed elevated shots of the couple looking out across the Pacific Ocean and walking hand-in-hand along the sands, as well as some embraces illuminated by the late-afternoon light and a sunburst.
Ceremony photos at Hotel Seven4One:
It was then time for the wedding ceremony to get underway, with Vivian’s parents escorting her down the aisle of the beautifully-decorated courtyard at Hotel Seven4One. I captured Andy’s reaction as he watched his bride in this special moment, as well as the hand-off as Vivian was given away by her mom and dad.
I grabbed both wide-angle shots and up-close candids through this wedding at Hotel Seven4One, as well as the reactions of both sets of parents as they watched on. Vivian and Andy read personalized vows they had written for one another, then sealed their marriage with a big dip and kiss!
After making their joyous recessional walk down the aisle as “husband and wife”, everyone moved into the cocktail hour space while the staff performed a “flip”, transforming the ceremony venue into a reception room. Meanwhile, Vivian and Andy were celebrating with their family and friends while enjoying a well-earned cocktail themselves.
Reception photos at Hotel Seven4One:
The reception kicked off with Vivian and Andy’s grand entrance and a “thank you” toast from the couple to their guests. Then the party really got started as the couple poured shots for one another through an ice sculpture and everyone hit the dance floor to celebrate.
I have to say that Vivian and Andy’s family and friends know how to party, with both young and not-so-young letting loose with glow sticks, hula hoops and even a smoke gun! Andy’s grandma was in amongst all the action (and at the receiving end of shots), with another guest doing the splits in the middle of the dance floor.
Things settled down a little for speeches and toasts from those closest to the couple and I captured their reactions at the flower-adorned sweetheart table. As everyone returned to the dance floor to party, I grabbed some candids of both dads looking through photos together and all the antics as the bride and groom showered their guests with smoke.

It really was an incredible day spent with Vivian, Andy, their friends and family for this wedding at Hotel Seven4One and I can’t thank them enough for choosing Aevitas Weddings and being so easygoing to work with. I was very jealous to hear that they were off to Patagonia to go trekking in Torres del Paine for their honeymoon and wish them the most amazing time in this spectacular part of the world.
