Photos from Hannah and Eric’s wedding at Marina Del Rey Marriott Hotel, which began with the couple getting ready in separate suites. We then documented a romantic first look on the rooftop helipad and portraits in the downstairs courtyard before their Jewish-inspired wedding ceremony overlooking the city of Los Angeles. They ended the night celebrating with their family and friends during a ballroom wedding reception at Marina Del Rey Marriott Hotel, accompanied by a live band.
Hannah and Eric first reached out to me back in the fall of 2017 about capturing their engagement session at Solstice Canyon and El Matador Beach. I was thrilled to hear from them again in February 2018 when they selected me as their photographer for this wedding at Marina Del Rey Marriott Hotel.
From the getting ready to the ceremony, portraits, and reception, everything was going to be happening in the one place. So I met up with my second photographer and assistant at Marina Del Rey Marriott Hotel on the morning of their special day to document all the action.
Getting ready photos at Marina Del Rey Marriott Hotel:
While my second photographer was with Eric, his groomsmen and both of the dads, my assistant and I were with Hannah, her bridesmaids, and both of the moms as they prepared in their suite at Marina Del Rey Marriott Hotel. I captured candid photos of Hannah having the final touches applied to her makeup and a shot as she admired her wedding dress, as well as some portraits with her bridesmaids in their matching pajamas.
After Hannah slipped into her gorgeous dress, I documented some special moments with her mom as she helped to secure the back of her dress and a photo with her sister and sister-in-law as she stepped into her shoes. Hannah then read a note card from her soon-to-be husband before we captured some portraits of her with her bouquet looking absolutely radiant.
It was then time for the first look with her dad, which was an emotional moment as both tried to hold back tears. Hannah’s mom and sister were watching on, so I captured a quick family portrait before Hannah did a big reveal to her bridesmaids who were waiting in the other room.
Pre-ceremony portraits at Marina Del Rey Marriott Hotel:
Hannah then led her bridesmaids up to the rooftop helipad of Marina Del Rey Marriott Hotel where Eric was waiting for their first look. I photographed Hannah walking across the flower-adorned bridge and both of their reactions at seeing one another for the first time on their special day.
Both the bride and groom’s families were watching on during this emotional moment, as were their bridal party dressed in stylish suits and white dresses. We used the time available for some bridal party portraits on the rooftop overlooking the city of Los Angeles before heading downstairs to a courtyard at Marina Del Rey Marriott Hotel to continue the session.
We stopped along the way for some creative bird’s eye view shots of Hannah and Eric embracing on the spiral staircase, then captured a kiss between the couple in the courtyard gazebo. Hannah’s cute nephew then came to greet the couple before they were joined again by their bridal party for a relaxed portrait session.
Ceremony photos at Marina Del Rey Marriott Hotel:
It was then time to return to the rooftop where the couple’s wedding ceremony was to take place, with Hannah’s parents walking her down the aisle towards Eric. While we had been worried about rain dampening the day, we got incredibly lucky with just a cloudy sky and beautiful diffuse lighting through the wedding ceremony.
Hannah and Eric’s ceremony combined traditional Western and Jewish elements, honoring the bride’s cultural roots, and I tried to document the proceedings from multiple angles. Aside from a wide-angle shot illustrating the incredible rooftop setting, I also captured up-close shots of the couple’s reactions and those of their parents and bridal party watching on.
Hannah and Eric sealed their marriage with a kiss before making their celebratory recessional walk down the aisle. They paused partway down the aisle for another kiss, with their family and friends congratulating them on either side. We captured a couple of quick portraits of the newlyweds in their reception venue and in front of a pink neon “All you need is love” sign, then left them to enjoy the cocktail hour with their guests.
Reception photos at Marina Del Rey Marriott Hotel:
Hannah and Eric’s wedding reception at Marina Del Rey Marriott Hotel was taking place in a ballroom on the top floor, with the couple making their grand entrance and launching straight into their first dance. They then incorporated some Jewish reception traditions, such as the Horah dance, as the bride and groom (and their parents) were lifted above the dance floor on chairs.
Speeches from the bride’s parents, matron-of-honor (Hannah’s sister) and best man (Eric’s brother) followed and I captured the couple’s reactions as they listened in from their sweetheart table. Hannah and Eric then cut their multi-tiered (and multi-colored) wedding cake before their sentimental father-daughter and mother-son dances.
It was open dancing for the rest of the night, with an incredible band providing the entertainment. I tried to document all the action as the couple and their wedding guests let loose, including Hannah’s grandma who was obviously enjoying the celebrations. I photographed Eric being lifted onto the shoulders of his groomsmen and Hannah dancing with the band’s singer before ending the night with a shot of the newlyweds kissing on the dance floor.
Wedding photos at Marina Del Rey Marriott Hotel:
I can’t thank Hannah and Eric enough for selecting me as the photographer to capture this wedding at Marina Del Rey Marriott Hotel, as well as their rehearsal dinner the night before. I know they’re off to Bora Bora to start their married life together and wish them all the happiness in the world.
