Photos from Judy and Ajay’s multicultural wedding at Mountain Meadows Golf Course, which began with the couple getting ready in separate suites at Sheraton Fairplex Hotel And Conference Center. After documenting their first look, we headed to Mountain Meadows Golf Course for their Hindu ceremony, which was followed by a traditional western wedding ceremony and sunset portrait session. We ended the day with a lively wedding reception at Mountain Meadows Golf Course where they celebrated with family and friends.
Judy and Ajay contacted me online about capturing their multicultural wedding at Mountain Meadows Golf Course in Pomona and we had the opportunity to get to know one another a little better during a Skype meeting. They’d met during their first year in med school in Chicago and after Ajay pursued Judy for a number of months, they ended up dating and have been together ever since.
Ajay planned to pop the question on a waterfall hike at Lake Arrowhead but after becoming lost along the trail, they never made it to the waterfall! He proposed nonetheless and they had decided to combine their Chinese and Indian roots into a multicultural celebration with their family and friends in Pomona.
Getting ready photos at Sheraton Fairplex Hotel And Conference Center:
The day all began at the Sheraton Fairplex Hotel And Conference Center in Pomona where Judy and Ajay were getting ready in separate suites. While my second photographer was with the boys capturing their final preparations, I was with Judy and the girls, with the bride still wearing a stunning red qi pao following an early morning Chinese tea ceremony.
I grabbed some shots of Judy having the finishing touches applied to her makeup and admiring her gorgeous white wedding dress before she was joined by her bridesmaids to get ready. I captured candid photos as she shared in this special moment with her closest friends and they assisted with her jewelry, then Judy stepped into her sparkling silver wedding shoes.
Pre-ceremony photos at Sheraton Fairplex Hotel And Conference Center:
Judy and Ajay had decided on a first look, so we found a shaded pathway at the Sheraton Fairplex Hotel And Conference Center where it took place. I photographed Judy walking up behind her groom and their joyous reactions at seeing one another in their western wedding attire, then grabbed some portraits as they shared in this loved-up moment.
We then made the short drive over to the Mountain Meadows Golf Course and had time for a few bridal party portraits before Judy and Ajay changed into their traditional Indian wedding attire. I photographed Ajay’s dad and brother adjusting his sherwani and a special moment between Judy and her brothers before the couple had another first look in the lush gardens.
The red and gold colors in their traditional Indian wedding attire really “popped” against the green backdrop as the couple embraced during a short portrait session. They were then joined by their bridal party who had also changed into Indian attire and we captured some fun portraits as the girls blew kisses at the camera and they all threw their hands in the air.
Ceremony photos at Mountain Meadows Golf Course:
It was then time for the official proceedings to get underway, beginning with a lively Baraat ceremony as Ajay and his family paraded through the grounds of Mountain Meadows Golf Course. There was plenty of color and movement to capture as they danced their way through the parking lot, with Ajay arriving on the back of a beautifully decorated golf cart. He was carried the final distance on the shoulders of his groomsmen before being welcomed by Judy’s parents throwing rice in what is a traditional Indian wedding ritual.
Judy’s parents then escorted Ajay down the aisle for the start of his Hindu wedding ceremony in the gardens of Mountain Meadows Golf Course, followed by his parents and Judy on the arms of her brothers. They sat on a beautifully decorated mandap stage where they performed a number of rites and rituals, including the exchange of garlands and feeding one another sweet treats.
I tried to capture all these special moments and the reactions of those closest to the couple, as well as grabbing some wide-angle shots looking down the aisle of this stunning Pomona wedding venue. Judy and Ajay then made their recessional walk down the aisle and we squeezed in a couple of portraits before they quickly changed for their western wedding ceremony.
This began with Ajay being escorted down the aisle by his parents and Judy on the arm of her dad before the couple exchanged vows and rings in front of their family and friends. I photographed the bride wiping away tears during the emotional wedding ceremony and the reactions of her parents as they watched on.
Post-ceremony photos at Mountain Meadows Golf Course:
After being pronounced “husband and wife” and making their second recessional walk down the aisle, we worked with the late-afternoon light to capture a few portraits of the couple and their bridal party at the ceremony venue. We then jumped onto a golf cart and headed to the top of a hill for some romantic couple portraits as the sun slowly set in the distance.
I grabbed some whimsical shots of Judy and Ajay holding hands on the grassy lawn and kissing in the back of the golf cart, as well as capturing an intimate shot beneath their veil. We also utilized a lake at Mountain Meadows Golf Course for some portraits before heading back to their private club reception.
Reception photos at Mountain Meadows Golf Course:
Judy and Ajay kicked off their wedding reception with an energetic grand entrance before hitting the dance floor for their first dance. This was followed by speeches and toasts from their parents, bridesmaids, and best man, as well as a joint toast from Judy’s brothers as the couple listened in from their sweetheart table.
After the mother-son and father-daughter dances, Judy and Ajay’s friends and bridal party took to the dance floor for some fun, choreographed performances. Everyone then hit the dance floor to celebrate, with so much energy to capture, not to mention the colorful saris and bright red qi pao that Judy had changed into.
