A selection of wedding photos at Temple Emanuel Beverly Hills to celebrate the special day of Cherryl and Maxwell. I documented the couple getting ready at the Beverly Hilton before their full Catholic mass at the Church of the Good Shepherd and a romantic portrait session in Will Rogers Memorial Park. The newly weds then partied with their family and friends during a glamorous ballroom reception at Temple Emanuel Beverly Hills.
I first connected with Cherryl and Maxwell earlier this year for their cooking-themed e-session and really loved their creative approach. They actually live in the San Francisco Bay Area now but were planning a big wedding at Temple Emanuel Beverly Hills with their extended family and friends.
Everything was happening in Beverly Hills, with all of the venues just a couple of miles drive from one another, which meant we had plenty of time for photography throughout the day. Cherryl and Maxwell also made sure everything ran according to schedule (or even a little early), creating a smooth-running and stress-free day that I was honored to be a part of.
Getting ready photos at The Beverly Hilton:
The day began at The Beverly Hilton where Cherryl and Maxwell were getting ready in separate suites. While my second photographer was with the groom and his groomsmen, I was with Cherryl, her three bridesmaids and both moms as they made their final preparations.
I captured close-up shots as Cherryl had the final touches applied to her makeup and some special moments with her two sisters and mom, as well as a reflective black and white as the bride secured her earrings in the suite mirror. Cherryl’s team actually finished the girls’ hair and makeup early, which meant we could use the time available for portraits of the beautiful bride with her family.
Cherryl’s dad arrived for a first look with his daughter looking absolutely stunning and I captured a portrait of the tight-knit family in this special moment. There were emotional reactions from the bride as she read a note card from her husband-to-be, then a more celebratory atmosphere as she popped a bottle of champagne and pretended to drink the whole thing!
Ceremony photos at the Church Of The Good Shepherd:
It was then time for the ceremony to begin, so we made the short drive over to the Church Of The Good Shepherd in Beverly Hills where Cherryl and Maxwell were holding a full Catholic Mass. Cherryl’s family is from the Philippines, so they were also incorporating a few distinctly Filipino elements into the ceremony.
I photographed Maxwell’s reaction as he watched his beautiful bride being escorted down the aisle by her parents, then the moment they gave her away at the altar. Because the Church Of The Good Shepherd has quite strict rules regarding photography, I was limited in where I could shoot from but still managed to capture all the Catholic traditions and rituals as they took place.
After Cherryl and Maxwell’s moms lit the unity candle together, the couple were draped in cords and a veil in what is a Filipino Catholic wedding tradition. They then embrace their family and friends before communion was taken and the bride and her mom offered flowers to Mother Mary. Cherryl and Maxwell were then pronounced “husband and wife”, which they sealed with a kiss before making their recessional walk down the aisle.
Post-ceremony portraits at Will Rogers Memorial Park:
After the wedding ceremony was complete, I snuck back into the Church Of The Good Shepherd with Cherryl and Maxwell for a few portraits. There was a dramatic beam of light shining into the church that we utilized, as well as capturing some wide-angle portraits in the aisle.
We then made the short drive over to the Will Rogers Memorial Park in Beverly Hills for their wedding portrait session, capturing bridal party portraits and family formals in this green oasis. I photographed Maxwell affectionately kissing Cherryl’s hand and the couple embracing backed by the leafy palms, as well as a shot of the bride leading her groom in front of an ornate fountain.
With their day running ahead of schedule, we decided to take a few more portraits back at The Beverly Hilton, considering we hadn’t had a chance earlier without a first look session. We utilized the elegant hallways and sophisticated lounge areas of this upmarket hotel, as well as taking some portraits in the gardens.

Reception photos at Temple Emanuel Beverly Hills:
At around 5pm, it was time for the cocktail hour and reception to kick off, with a live band leading the proceedings for the wedding party at Temple Emanuel Beverly Hills. Cherryl and Maxwell performed a really impressive first dance, then settled into their sweetheart table for speeches and toasts from the maid-of-honor, best man, and father-of-the-bride. This was followed by the parental dances and a fun moment as Maxwell and Cherryl’s friends joined them for the “money dance”, showering the groom and bride in dollar bills.
After their cake-cutting ceremony and champagne toast, the newlyweds made a “thank you” speech for their wedding guests and everyone hit the dance floor. I tried to capture all the energy of the night from multiple angles, as well as a playful moment when Maxwell’s friends tackled him to the floor.
Cherryl and Maxwell had ordered in McDonalds as a late-night treat for their guests, so I captured a romantic shot of them feeding one another fries. We finished the evening with a group shot of their wedding party on the dance floor, ending what had been an incredible day.

I want to thank Cherryl and Maxwell for selecting Aevitas Weddings to capture their wedding at Temple Emanuel Beverly Hills and for creating what was such an amazing and stress-free day. I wish them all the best as they return to the Bay Area to start their new life together as husband and wife.
