Photos from Kristine and Josh’s rustic-inspired wedding at The Unique Space, which began with the girls getting ready at the venue and the boys at Ace Hotel Downtown Los Angeles. The couple then exchanged vows during an intimate wedding ceremony before a sunset portrait session on the rooftop of The Unique Space, followed by a laid-back wedding reception.
Kristine and Josh found me online back in March of this year and I was honored that they decided to book me as their photographer for this wedding at The Unique Space in Los Angeles, without having met in person. They’ve been together since college days and Josh had romantically popped the question after going to a screening of “Jurassic Park” (just as they had on their very first date).
They were planning an intimate celebration at The Unique Space – an eclectic Los Angeles wedding venue that reflected their personalities. While I met up with Kristine and the girls preparing at the venue, my second photographer headed to Ace Hotel Downtown Los Angeles where Josh was getting ready with his groomsmen.
Getting ready photos at The Unique Space:
I began by photographing Kristine admiring her wedding dress with her aunt (who was the seamstress behind its creation) before capturing some shots with her bridesmaids as their colorful dresses hung behind. After getting dressed, I captured some creative portraits of the girls backed by a whitewashed brick wall at The Unique Space, as well as documenting some special moments between Kristine and her cute niece, Skylar.
Kristine’s bridesmaids then assisted as she stepped into her gold wedding boots before the bride’s mom arrived to help with her jewelry. We used the time available for some creative portraits of the girls looking absolutely stunning in the rustic space, as well as capturing a gift exchange between Kristine and her bridesmaids.
Ceremony photos at The Unique Space:
It was then time for the wedding ceremony to get underway, which was being held on the first floor of The Unique Space. I photographed Josh’s reaction as he watched Kristine walk down the aisle before the couple exchanged vows back by a feature red brick wall.
Throughout the proceedings, I documented the reactions of both the bride and groom, as well as their parents as they proudly watched on. After being pronounced “husband and wife”, Josh dipped and kissed his bride before they made their recessional walk down the aisle to be congratulated by family and friends.
Portraits at The Unique Space:
The newly married couple headed upstairs for a brief moment together to let their new union sink in, before being joined by their bridal party for a champagne toast. We managed to squeeze in a number of family formals and bridal party portraits at The Unique Space ceremony venue, then headed up to the rooftop to take advantage of the golden sunset light.
Here I captured romantic portraits and creative silhouettes of Kristine and Josh embracing backed by the setting sun and the city skyline of Downtown Los Angeles. We also utilized an industrial-style roller door for some playful portraits and an impressive mural on one of the walls outside the wedding venue.
Reception photos at The Unique Space:
Kristine and Josh’s wedding reception at The Unique Space was a really relaxed affair, beginning with speeches and toasts from those closest to them. This was followed by some fun parental dances and the couple’s official first dance before the floor was opened up to everyone to celebrate.
Throughout the rest of the evening, I tried to capture all the action on the dance floor, as well as the couple’s cake cutting ceremony backed by a wall of donuts. They ended the evening being lifted above the dance floor on chairs by their wedding guests, with Kristine sporting sparkly golden shoes.
Wedding photos at The Unique Space:
I couldn’t be more honored to be selected as the photographer for Kristine and Josh’s wedding at The Unique Space and wish them all the happiness in the world. I know that they’re off to Mexico for their honeymoon and hope they enjoy this sneak peek of what’s to come in their wedding gallery!
