Baseball-loving couple Gracie and Alex were referred to me by my good wedding coordinator friend Ana Mora from Dream Events. I was extra excited to work with them as they were planning on doing something really unique with a Dodger Stadium engagement session, drawing on their mutual love of the Dodgers baseball team. They’ve been together since 2007, having met through mutual friends, and were planning on showcasing their 10-year milestone during the e-session.
I first met up with Gracie and Alex at my home studio where we chatted about their wedding next June in Santa Barbara, as well as their hopes for this Dodger Stadium engagement session. As you might know, the Dodgers did amazing this last season in the MLB and Gracie and Alex had their fingers crossed that they would go on to win the World Series. By the time their e-session came around, it hadn’t been the result they were hoping for, making this e-session a bittersweet occasion.

We met up in the parking lot of Dodger Stadium in the mid-afternoon, with Ana from Dream Events and Gracie’s younger sister also coming along to help us out. As it was the off-season, there were not games taking place and we had the stadium all to ourselves, although Gracie and Alex did have to book in with a tour guide to accompany us. It was quite special to be at such an iconic venue that has seen so much baseball history, not to mention the legendary players and managers who take to its pitch on a regular occasion.
We started up in the stands of Dodger Stadium, capturing portraits of Gracie and Alex pretending to cheer on their team and showcasing their baseball shirts that read “Together Since 2007”. I grabbed sweeping wide-angle portraits and up-close embraces, as well as a few incorporating the iconic “Dodgers” sign.
We then headed out through the exit area, which is adorned with vintage signs, and down to the ground floor Memorabilia Room. I captured portraits of Gracie and Alex admiring the trophies and rows of “Golden Gloves”, as well as a dramatic shot framed by portraits of some of the Dodgers’ most legendary players.
Our tour guide then led us into one of the dugouts where the players and managers hang out during the game. I grabbed a romantic shot of Alex laying on Gracie’s lap on one of the benches and a playful shot as they pretended to be on the phones, as well as a silhouette looking out across the pitch.
We then wandered onto the pitch itself, with Gracie and Alex kissing while holding their save-the-date baseball and pretending to have an argument on the pitcher’s plate. I also grabbed a creative shot of Alex preparing to pitch a ball to Gracie and a wide-angle capturing all the action. We staged a shot of Alex sliding into second base while Gracie pretended to tag him and some romantic embraces as they hung out at this stadium that meant so much to both of them.
It was then time to head back indoors, with Gracie and Alex trying to sneak a peek into the off-limits Dodgers Clubhouse. We were allowed into the Press Room, however, and made the most of the opportunity with pretend interviews and fielding questions from Gracie’s younger sister.
We finished this Dodger Stadium engagement session in one of the corridors lined with vintage memorabilia, including old tickets and an old turnstile that Gracie playfully pulled Alex across. We also staged a shot in front of a vintage locker room and a wall adorned in pictures from when the Dodgers were based in Brooklyn.
By this time it was dark outside, so Gracie and Alex changed into their formal wear for their nighttime e-session in Downtown Los Angeles. But before we left Dodger Stadium, we grabbed one more portrait on the terrace overlooking the LA city skyline.
Walt Disney Concert Hall engagement session photos:
We began this nighttime e-session in Downtown Los Angeles at one of my favorite venues, the Walt Disney Concert Hall. I captured dramatic shots of Gracie and Alex embracing amidst its sweeping, metallic architecture, as well as a shot as they kissed on a nearby pedestrian crossing.

We then wandered over to the Dorothy Pavilion whose trees are beautifully illuminated in fairy lights, creating a really romantic setting for nighttime portraits. We also utilized the DWP Building, which offers fantastic views of the LA city skyline, as well as boasting a fountain that was magically lit with purple light. I grabbed some silhouettes of Gracie and Alex embracing in this stunning setting, as well as a creative black and white portrait as she admired her engagement ring and he checked his watch.
LACMA engagement session photos:
To finish the e-session, we drove over to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) to grab some portraits in its courtyard of lampposts. But unfortunately, it seemed the whole of LA had the same idea! This meant we had to get creative with the angles to avoid having other people in the shots and capture the romantic ambiance we were looking for.
I really can’t thank Gracie and Alex enough for selecting me as their photographer for this Dodger Stadium engagement session and the opportunity to work at such an iconic venue. I wish them all the best as they prepare for their Santa Barbara wedding next summer and look forward to reconnecting with them then.
