Celebrating the special day of Georgia-based couple Boma and Tayo during their opulent wedding at Mission Inn Hotel And Spa. From the getting ready in separate suites to the Catholic ceremony and stunning portrait sessions, everything happened at this striking Riverside wedding venue. Friends and family had flown from all over the country (and as far away as Nigeria), bringing with them plenty of color and emotion to capture.
Boma and Tayo were referred to me by a good wedding planner friend of mine, Anna Mora from Dream Events, who always refers such wonderful couples. They were planning a Christian wedding at Mission Inn Hotel And Spa in Riverside, with quite a few Nigerian traditions thrown in.
The couple is actually based in Georgia but they both have family and friends in Southern California so had decided to tie the knot here. People had flown from all over the United States for their special day (as well as from Nigeria), with the gorgeous Mission Inn Hotel and Spa providing a stunning backdrop for their wedding celebrations.
Getting ready photos at the Mission Inn Hotel And Spa:
I drove over to Riverside in the morning to meet up with my second photographer, then got to work documenting Boma and her bridesmaids as they were getting ready. I photographed the bride as she admired her gorgeous gown and did some playful “selfies” with her bridesmaids, as well as an up-close candid as she had the final touches applied to her makeup.
Boma had bought her bridesmaids beautiful leather bags as a thank you gift while they surprised her with a silver mirror and brush set. After exchanging gifts, the girls then helped Boma into her wedding dress in the elegant bridal suite at the Mission Inn Hotel And Spa.
Boma’s mom then arrived for what was an emotional first look session and helped Boma’s sister/maid-of-honor fix the bride’s veil. The father of the bride then arrived to see his daughter looking absolutely radiant and I documented this special family moment as Boma’s mom and sister watched on. The family then paused in prayer together before the bride made her way to the hallway where she and Tayo were staging their first look.
Pre-ceremony portraits at the Mission Inn Hotel And Spa:
Tayo waited patiently for his bride to arrive and I captured the moment she walked up behind him for their first look session at the Mission Inn Hotel And Spa. The moment was filled with emotion, with lots of warm embraces and a few tears. We used the short time we had available before the ceremony started for some portraits of the couple in this loved-up moment on the sweeping staircase of the Mission Inn Hotel And Spa.
Ceremony photos at the Mission Inn Hotel And Spa:
Tayo’s mom escorted him into the ornate chapel of the Mission Inn Hotel And Spa, followed by Boma on the arm of her dad. I captured the groom’s reaction as he watched his bride walk down the aisle, then a wide-angle looking across this gorgeous Riverside wedding ceremony venue.
Boma and Tayo’s Christian wedding ceremony incorporated numerous rites and rituals, including the taking of communion and prayers. They had both written incredibly thoughtful and personalized vows, with a few tears shed as they made these declarations of love in front of their family and friends.
I captured the reactions of not only the bride and groom during their wedding ceremony at the Mission Inn Hotel And Spa, but also their parents and their bridal party as they watched on. After being pronounced “husband and wife”, Boma and Tayo made a joyous recessional walk down the aisle, pausing at the end for a grand kiss!
Post-ceremony portraits at the Mission Inn Hotel And Spa:
As Boma and Tayo’s family and friends spilled into the courtyard outside the Mission Inn chapel, I captured an elevated group photo of their wedding party. We then headed back inside the chapel for family formals and some fun bridal party portraits, followed by romantics of the bride and groom.
The Mission Inn Hotel And Spa has so many gorgeous spaces to use for couple portraits, which we made full use of during this wedding photo session. I captured intimate embraces between the couple in the ornate courtyard and in front of the carved wooden chapel doors, as well as creative shots beneath Boma’s veil and incorporating the architecture of the Mission Inn Hotel And Spa.
I photographed a tender moment between the newlyweds in front of a stained glass window and beside an immense clock, as well as a shot of Tayo lifting Boma into the air at the arched entrance to the Mission Inn Hotel And Spa.
Reception photos at the Mission Inn Hotel And Spa:
It was then time for the wedding reception to get underway, which was being held in the ballroom of the Mission Inn Hotel And Spa. Boma and Tayo performed a lively first dance before being joined on the dance floor by their parents, with plenty of color thanks to the traditional Nigerian wedding attire they were wearing.
Boma and Tayo then settled into their sweetheart table for dinner, speeches and toasts, which I documented through candid shots of their reactions. After their cake cutting ceremony and the bouquet toss, everyone hit the dance floor to celebrate.
Boma and Tayo’s family and friends definitely knew how to dance and I tried to get in amongst all the action to capture the energy. Partway through the evening, the couple changed into more traditional Nigerian wedding attire and Boma’s female friends surprised them with a special dance. The evening came to an end with a “thank you” speech from the couple and warm embraces with those closest to them.

I can’t thank Boma and Tayo enough for inviting me to be part of their special day to capture this wedding at the Mission Inn Hotel And Spa. There were so many amazing moments to document and they really wore their emotions on their sleeve, so I hope these images bring them joy and warm memories for many years to come.
