Wedding anniversaries are a special holiday. Each new year spent together makes you closer and closer to each other, teaches you to be happy and to give happiness to the person walking through life next to you. That’s why you should celebrate your wedding anniversary by dedicating this day to yourself.

An anniversary photo shoot is a great gift and an opportunity to feel the importance of the event, and at the same time to remember how it all began. To get a lot of good photos, it is worth to decide in advance not only with the photographer, but also with the subject of the shooting, to make it interesting and memorable. In this article, I will break down some basic tips for spouses.

Tip 1: prepare for the photo shoot beforehand

Taking a picture with a professional photographer is not as easy a task as it may seem at first glance. To get good shots, think in advance about the setting, props, outfits and poses.

The best thing you can do with a camera lens is to look natural and sincere. You can practice at home in front of the mirror, choosing beautiful poses and facial expressions, but don’t get carried away too much: this is necessary first of all for gaining confidence. During the photo shoot, it’s best to relax and just enjoy yourself. Constant tension and a strained smile are not the best attribute of an anniversary photo shoot.

No less important are your clothes and image in general: try to make sure your outfits match each other in color and style, as well as match the surroundings. Engage a professional makeup artist if possible.

Tip 2: Remember how old your marriage is
When choosing a theme for the shoot, you can start with the name of the anniversary: chintz, paper, leather. Use appropriate props or accessories – and the shots will immediately become more vivid and interesting. Rent a photo studio with lots of pillows or just wear a chintz dress if it’s your first anniversary, use pictures, posters or books for a paper wedding, try your hand at a biker or gangster look with the appropriate accessories for a leather wedding – or come up with your own concept!

If you’re still in search of a wedding anniversary photo shoot idea, the easiest option would be to reenact your wedding day. Maybe your vision for this celebration has changed over the years, or maybe you just want to relive the holiday one more time – but just the two of you? Put on your wedding outfits (or pick up some new ones), invite a photographer, and go on a miniature wedding trip. This option is often chosen by couples on their first anniversary, but it will only increase in originality over the years.

Tip 3: Go to nature
The time of year and weather are not so important in this case (although you should definitely consider them in advance). In the summer you can go for a picnic in the woods or by the river, in the fall – walk in your favorite park, and in winter find a place with pure white snow. And even in the rain you can create romantic images in the city streets – of course, if you bring bright umbrellas.

Props for the shooting will diversify the choice of poses and allow you to make more lively and bright shots. In nature you can almost not limit yourself in the choice of accessories: colorful garlands of hearts or balloons, flowers, numbers and letters, confetti, fruit. And the bright greenery reflecting on the surface of the pond, or the beauty of the landscape will emphasize the freshness of your feelings.

Tip 4: Don’t be afraid of the cold weather
If you decided to hold your wedding in the winter – that’s no reason to refuse an anniversary photo shoot. There are plenty of photo studios, restaurants and cafes with luxurious interiors, and fun winter activities at your disposal. Choose what you like best!

For outdoor shoots, dress warmer – or just bring warm clothes that you can wear over your costumes to keep warm. Bright, matching colors are perfect for a winter holiday outfit. We also suggest stocking up on a thermos of tea or coffee.

Clean and white snow will be your best ally: make a snowman or play snowballs, skate on a frozen pond or skating rink, go down the hill in a sled. Cheerful sparks in your eyes and happy smiles will warm you up in any frost! More movement and activity, and you will be happy not only with the process of shooting, but also with the results.

Tip 5: Combine your holiday with a photo shoot
If nature scenes do not appeal to you, then why not combine photography with a visit to a restaurant? Especially since there are many places in Moscow with luxurious interiors where you can take great photos and then order a celebratory dinner for two, or even a banquet for friends and relatives. However, some elite restaurants provide their premises for rent for photo sessions and without booking a table: so if you have already chosen a cafe for a holiday banquet, no one will refuse you to take pictures in another place.
